Chicago Best Of All Worlds

I went to school near Chicago, Illinois at Northwestern University for 4 years, and I have yet to enjoy living in a place as much as I did living there. I used to bike along the lake path as often as possible, as well as for walks there with friends.



In the fall, after the summer has had a chance to make the lake warm, you can swim in it--one of my happiest memories is swimming (illegally) in Lake Michigan with my best friend with all of our clothes on just because we couldn't resist b/c the water was so warm and it felt so good.

Living in Evanston was great not just because of Evanston though, obviously--its proximity to Chicago is wonderful. Far enough away from downtown that you have a well-developed suburb and you can feel reasonably safe, but close enough that you can get there by car or transit easily and relatively quickly and cheaply.

Chicago has everything--music, theatre, art, restaurants, bars, shopping--it's the perfect city. What makes it so perfect is the fact that it lies directly on Lake Michigan, so if you tire of all the commercial and cultural activities, you can still just enjoy some brilliant scenery at any time of day almost anywhere in town.
