Ask Kate: How To Create A Business Website Hey Kate, I am a mortgage banker in Charleston, SC and have been following you on the web for the past few months.

The web presence you have created is very impressive. I have been working in the mortgage business for ten years, but do not have much of a web presence.

I am interested in putting something together that is similar to what you are doing. I have never done a mortgage in your area or anywhere out west and really only work in South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. I would not be competition to you.

Do you do any kind of coaching on how to increase web presence and content?

Kate Answers: How To Create A Business Website

Hi Brian, I'm happy to hear you found me on the web because no matter how good a website is, if no one can find you, what's the use! And being found, along with offering content that is useful and dependable, is the secret to a successful online presence.

I'd be happy to tell you how I began.

Several years ago, in the midst of a booming real estate market, I was in an accident that forced me to quit originating mortgages. I tell my story (and it's bitter sweet) here at Little Did I Know In 10 Minutes My Entire Life Was About To Change.

Now mind you, I knew nothing about building websites. I was quite adept at obtaining my loan approvals online using software from different lenders. But beyond that, I spent time on the internet like most of us do, ordering a purchase, looking up information or sending email.

These days as I'm creating my two websites, in addition to home buyers and homeowners contacting me for solutions at Ask Kate, I'm often asked how I learned to build the sites. So because I am proud of my success and like to share it with others, I created How To Build A Website That Works including a video by a friend of mine who also built her website using SBI.

Follow the links you find on the pages. They are fun to read! And then let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to help you in any way I can just the way others helped me.

Those of us who use SBI to build our websites also have a forum where we come together to discuss what works and to ask and answer questions.
