Great Chicago Restaurants Enjoy The Beach

Chicago is a great place to visit. When you live somewhere else in Illinois, Chicago is the big weekend vacation. The Lake Michigan beaches are a great weekend getaway.

Being an Illinois (but not a Chicago) resident, I have plenty of friends to stay with. We often spend afternoons on the beaches. There's always a cool breeze, which is wonderful when the sun gets hot. The water warms up as the temperatures fall, so you can enjoy the beaches even as it's getting colder. There's even an ice cream man who walks up and down the beach!

Chicago is also great for the many different types of cuisine. You can get anything from hot dogs to spectacular French cuisine. There's always something new to try every night, and I've enjoyed food from types of restaurants that we will never get in the small town I live in. Chicago has different "neighborhoods" that have their own spectacular restaurants. I love the "Taste of Greece" festival every August in Greektown. When they're not having the festival, you can get gyros from any number of restaurants on the main street. Greektown has spectacular restaurants for brunch, also.

My favorite thing about Chicago is definitely the shopping! Michigan Ave. and State Street have all of the stores anyone could ever want. Garret's Popcorn is delicious, if you're in the mood for a snack while shopping.
