Regarding time frames for mortgage loan approvals: How long is reasonable to wait for a decision on being offered a mortgage? I am currently into third week. Yours Truly, First Time Home Buyer

Dear First Time Home Buyer, I wish I could tell you mortgage loan approvals take three days because that seems reasonable to me. But of course many conditions influence the time frame on a day to day basis.

Consequently for this reason, keep in touch with your lender and ask what you can do to speed up an answer. By the same token, your real estate agent knows pertinent questions to ask so enlist the help of your Realtor, your greatest ally when buying a house.
