Mortgage Loan Pre Approval

Regarding mortgage loan pre approval: Hi Kate, I am a confused buyer in the middle of a short sale which has been dragging since April. Now my Realtor assures me that the seller and their two banks should be done with their part by mid July and so it's our turn to act now, apply for a mortgage, home inspection and all the fun stuff.
Here is my dilemma. My husband doesn't believe in shopping around for mortgage rates. He is going to our bank since they were the ones who pre-approved us and the loan officer there is part of my Realtor's network.
Is it part of mortgage officer's duty to sit with us and go over the mortgage options or can it all be done over phone?

Dear Riddi, There are many different ways to apply for a mortgage loan and mortgage loan pre approval. I would suggest for a husband and wife buying a home to both be present whenever possible with the loan representative.
So mortgage loan pre approval is accomplished in person, both of you attend the appointment. If using the phone, scheduled a dedicated time and conference in together.
