Mortgage Refinance Help
by Mr. White from USA
Ask Kate for Mortgage Refinance Help: I recently refinanced my mortgage, and the closing took place in my home. At closing, the person sent by the closing attorney's office to get signatures on all closing documents, including the HUD-1, did not ask me for any money, and he left my home without collecting any money from me.
The day after the 3 day rescission period expired, my refinance funded, all funds were disbursed, my original mortgage paid off, and the escrow set up for taxes and insurance has been funded.
4 days later (9 days after closing), the person who came to my home for closing called me and said, "I made a mistake. I was supposed to collect $119.74 from you. The HUD-1 (Line 303) is marked 'Cash From Borrower $119.74' and I was supposed to get a check or cash from you for that amount at closing." I told him that he can talk with the mortgage broker about it.
My question is: Do I have to pay this $119.74?
Thanks! Mr. White

***zz-portrait-left.shtml*** Dear Mr. White,
Most likely this was an oversight on the side of your closer, an honest mistake.
Here is something else to consider. You may have signed a document agreeing to cooperate after closing by providing outstanding items. Many mortgage packages contain this document.
If you can't locate the document in your closing package, enlist the help of your mortgage professional
I have also included more refinance help at the bottom of this page found on my website. Believe me! You won't want to miss it!
